HISTORY ABOUT THE ROUGH DIAMONDS AND THE SERVICES OF G.D.W.A.
Ghana currently produces about 500,000 carats of rough diamonds annually. This is made up of 75% industrial diamonds and 25% gems. Diamonds are mainly produced by private Diamond Winners which include individual small scale mining companies.
GHANA GOLDBOD is responsible for purchasing and marketing of the country's diamonds. This is done in strict compliance with Kimberly Process Certificate Scheme (KPCS) requirements.
The immediate past chairperson or a representation of the association of the BOD of the GHANA GOLDBOD, is an Ex-Officio Member of the Association.
SERVICES.
The Ghana Diamond Winners Association produces Diamond responsible under legitimate mining areas. The association is currently in the Minerals Commission, Ghana GOLDBOD and the ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to commence production under the government initiative of responsible mining practice dubbed Responsible Coorperative Mining and SkillDevelopment Programme rCOMSDEP
